About the Cartridge writers

The Cartridge Family is a Melbourne based group of emerging writers. Established in 2009, the Cartridge Family published an anthology later that year titled 'A Curiously Reduced Universe', which won the prestigious Fellowship of Australian Writers award by a community group outside academia.

Over the years members have gone on to receive various individual awards and had work accepted for publication. The most recent example of such success is Loretta Smith's book 'A Spanner in the Works - The Extraordinary Story of Alice Anderson and Australia's First All-Girl Garage' (Hachette, 2019)

The Cartridge Family's anthology titled 'Melbourne Subjective: An anthology of contemporary Melbourne writing' was published in 2014 and was funded through the City of Melbourne 2014 Arts Grant program.

Our mission is to encourage, develop and support the writing of members of the Cartridge Family, and to engage with other writers.
